Miss Lavelle White
Beginning with Miss Lavelle White, our first client in 2012, H.O.M.E now has 32 clients to date and growing, thanks to your donations and the support of our local musicians, artists, photographers, and businesses.
Legendary blues and soul songwriter/singer Miss Lavelle White has inspired women and men on and off the stage for more than 80 years, since she wrote her first song at the age of 12. Today, at 95, she is still an amazing performer. Miss Lavelle is one of HOME’s first and most grateful beneficiaries. Join us in providing a safety net for so many like Miss Lavelle who have given their hearts and souls to entertain, inspire and mentor us for so many years.
We began our focus assisting with the housing needs of Miss Lavelle White – she was our pilot program and honorary recipient of our initial effort. Program expansion is currently underway, as we are now assisting many new musicians in need with grants for housing and utilities.
“There’s a side of Austin that really cares.”
– Miss Lavelle White

Rosie Flores
“There’s no place like H.O.M.E., and my home is my shelter and safe place to create and stay focused on my music and dreams. Life gets to be more of a challenge when you get older. You work hard still but the opportunities and offers are limited. The H.O.M.E. organization has been here for me in Austin like a mother’s caring arms, like an angel’s wings affirming that I belong here and to keep going strong. I so appreciate all they have done for me, and the other musicians in this amazing city of Austin.”

“In 2017, I contracted an undetermined disease in my arms that caused an abrupt ending to my playing and touring career. It was a huge blow to have to give up the only thing I had ever done professionally. I had a very hard time dealing with the extreme change in my life. I still miss playing live and performing every day, but I have come to be grateful for my life as it is.
In 2018, my friends in the music community organized a benefit at Antones Blues Club to help me pay expenses and medical bills. It was at that time that HOME changed my life in a miraculous way. HOME took over my mortgage and has continued to be a major support system for me to be able to stay in my home without the burden of a payment. If not for HOME and the generous support, I probably would have lost my house.
Not only have they covered my mortgage payment for years, but they also support me in many other ways, especially during the holidays. The women at HOME are not only my personal friends but also friends to all community area musicians and artists who are struggling to make ends meet.
Thank you, HOME!”

“The minute I stopped trying to be the toughest guy in the world, I realized that I was one of the luckiest… Life is really good at this particular moment in time. This non-RV living is pretty dang sweet.”
