Emergency / COVID-19
Sun Radio Recharge: This COVID-19 relief program is giving Central Texas Musicians and Community Radio Stations nationwide the opportunity to apply for grants towards paying their electricity bills! The foundation has allocated initial funding for one-time gifts of up to $200 each for Local Austin and San Antonio area musicians and crew members who are struggling to pay electric bills.
Stand With Austin Fund: The Stand With Austin Fund was established in partnership with the Entrepreneurs Foundation to receive charitable donations to support nonprofits assisting individuals and small businesses most negatively impacted by the cancellation of SXSW and least able to recover on their own.

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans: Small business owners are eligible to apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan advance of up to $10,000. Program provides small businesses with working capital loans that can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing.

Health
Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM)
Provides access to affordable health care for Austin’s low-income working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness.
The SIMS Foundation
SIMS partners with more than 60 licensed mental health providers in private practice in the Austin area. They serve SIMS clients at a significantly reduced rate in order to support Austin’s creative community.
Rent and Electric Assistance (Travis County)
Westover Hills Church of Christ
Provides limited rent and utility (electric, gas and water) assistance when funds are available. Usually able to assist about 30 families each month.
Intake Procedure: Call to schedule an appointment and for recent schedule update information; recorded message will state the next time they will be taking calls
Call 2nd and 3rd Tues of the month at 8:30 am to schedule an appointment for following Thursday, usually able to help the first 15 calls received. (512) 345-6386
Christian Service Center
Provides limited amounts of financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities which include gas, electricity and water, medical bills, orthopedic shoes, glasses, Texas ID cards, birth certificates, criminal background check fees, possible help with prescriptions and other emergency needs. Helps with old utility bills, but will not help with deposits.
Intake Procedure: Call for appointment, appointments are scheduled on Mondays ONLY between the hours of 9:15am and 11:00am, appointments are first come-first served basis, when a holiday falls on a Monday they will take calls on Tuesday.

TCHHSVS Family Support Services Division -North Rural Community Center (Pflugerville)
Provides emergency financial assistance with rent (including first month's rent and rent for transitional housing), mortgage, gas (including propane and firewood), electric, water, grocery store vouchers (for food only) and prescriptions. Most utility funding sources do not assist with utility deposits, late fees, reconnection fees, other utility bill service fees, telephone, meter tampering charges or bills older than the current calendar year.
Intake Procedure: Applicants are required to complete an application and are then placed on a waiting list for an appointment. Applicants who do not have internet access and are unable to visit centers may call for an application to be mailed, faxed or emailed to them then send a family member or friend to the office with their photo ID, letter of authorization and completed application.

Baptist Community Center
Provides limited financial assistance for rent, local mortgages, utilities (electric, gas, water), birth certificates, and prescriptions. All assistance is dependent on available funds. Does NOT assist with rental deposits, only monthly rent bills.

St. Matthew's Episcopal Church
Provides assistance with rent, water, electric and gas bills. Rent must be past due. Does not help with closed utility accounts.
COMMITTEE TAKES 30 DAYS TO PROCESS REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE.

Caritas of Austin
Best Single Source Plus (BSS Plus) is a collaboration among 13 local non-profits providing comprehensive case management and basic needs services to eligible individuals and families in the Austin/Travis County area. The program’s primary purpose is establishing housing stability, preventing and ending homelessness.
Applicants must access services utilizing Caritas' intake line at (512) 472-4135
Eligibility: Experiencing a financial crisis that puts their housing at-risk or are currently homeless.
Specific Hours: Intake Line: Mon, Wed, Thur 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Tues 8:00 am - 6:30 pm, and Fri 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Low Income Housing
Foundation Communities
Provides several affordable housing properties in Austin for single individuals and families with low to moderate income. Offers 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments and 2 or 3 bedroom duplexes. Units accommodate up to 2 people per bedroom, plus one additional person (not including infants), meaning a 1-bedroom apartment may have a maximum of 3 residents.
Section 8 vouchers are accepted at all properties
Eligibility: Income criteria for applicants with earned income, gross monthly income must be at least 2.5 times the monthly rent amount.
Must not have a history of felony convictions, deferred adjudication for felony offenses, misdemeanors involving violent crimes against persons, property, or for drug- or prostitution-related offenses within the past 10 years.
Must pass a credit background checks; applicants without a good credit history may be subject to an additional deposit

Green Doors - Affordable Housing Program
Description of Service: Provides integrated supportive and affordable housing to individuals and families. Program works with families that have barriers to finding housing. Properties include Pecan Springs Commons and Treaty Oaks.
Rents range from $695.00 - $855.00 and are not on a sliding scale or income-based. Call for an application

Austin Tenants' Council - Guide to Affordable Housing
Description of Service: Publishes "Guide to Affordable Housing in the Greater Austin Area". Includes a listing of affordable housing in Austin and surrounding areas, income and rent guidelines and information on affordable housing programs.
Intake Procedure: Walk in to pick up a copy or view on website, copies can be mailed only if consumer is unable to go in person
